Seven Hills Viognier 2008 -- Unwined Online Shopping Cart
$18.99
-- Gorgeous Pacific Northwest Viognier
Viognier is a white grape native to the south of France, boasting
intense floral and apricot aromas. Moderate acidity and full body makes
it a perfect alternative to Chardonnay. Lush
and barrel fermented, this rich Viognier is scented with peaches,
orange peel and fresh-baked brioche. The acids are soft and rich,
adding depth to the toasty finish. The fruit turns into a sort of
orange marmalade, yet retains a crisp, lightly bitter edge. The Seven Hills Viognier comes from the Talcott Vineyard on the Columbia Valley's Wahluke Slope. Winemaker Casey McClellan suppresses malolactic fermentation here, to play up the tangerine and peach fruit character, which is complemented by spicy oak notes from barrel fermentation. Meant to be drunk young, this is a soft, fruit-filled wine that would pair nicely with winter soups, poultry and herbed root vegetables.
